October 28-29:Ministry of Health and Welfare and Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the “2018 Global Health Forum in Taiwan” focused on the theme “Resilience: New Challenges and Opportunities for Global Health. ” The goal was to explore how to maximize resilience in the face of various challenges including the rising prevalence of unpredictable natural disasters, man-made disasters, and diseases associated with modern civilizations and make preparations for the future against the backdrop of constantly changing healthcare systems. Parallel events focused on the theme of resilience in attempts to explore current conditions and future planning needs in various countries. Relevant issues included natural disaster emergency response measures, challenges and opportunities associated with psychological resilience, promotion of national HPV vaccination and health literacy programs, global disease burdens, and non-communicable disease health promotion. During the event, relevant information was shared in a real-time manner on Facebook and Twitter. The forum had 68 speakers from 34 countries (leaders of majot healthcare organizations worldwide and ministers, deputy ministers, and representatives of health ministries) and about 1,200 local expert participants.
