A majority of people in Taiwan spend over one-third of their day at work, making the workplace a crucial setting for promoting public health. Since 2003, the Health Promotion Administration (HPA) has been implementing the Healthy Workplace initiative. In 2007, it established the Northern, Central, and Southern Regional Healthy Workplace Promotion Centers to provide consultation and coaching services, assisting enterprises in building quality work environments and enhancing employees’health. Starting in 2025, the initiative has been transformed into the "Self-Assessment Workplace Health Promotion", which encourages enterprises to take the lead in promoting employee health through a three-stage process: self-assessment, recognition of excellence, and awards for outstanding performance.
To further encourage participation, the HPA also organizes the “Outstanding Healthy Workplaces and Promoters Awards”, introducing newly added award categories and incentives. Through the recognition of diverse model practices and innovative approaches, the initiative aims to inspire nationwide corporate engagement in health promotion, enhance overall workplace health capacity, and ultimately strengthen the healthy workforce.
