October 13:HPA participated in the online Global Network for Tobacco Free Healthcare Online Conference. HPA Deputy Director-General Wei Shi-lun gave a speech at the Gold Forum Event. In 2020 and 2021, a total of 10 hospitals received Gold Forum Awards, and shared the promotional experience of tobacco-free hospitals.

October 12:HPA hosted the 28th annual health promotion hospital international seminar in 2021 (Conducted online) Hosted 1 workshop. The theme was “Post-epidemic re-orientation health promotion and healthcare service institute- Health hospitals 2.0 certification. HPA Deputy Director-General Wei Shi-lun gave the opening speech. We invited 3 speakers (2 domestic and 1 international). There were a total of 141 online participants.

October 6:HPA and Ministry of Education hosted the “Exercise i Taiwan 2.0 Plan Launching Press Conference” and “lively diverse new life, and sustainable exercise health promotion,” citizen exercise, and health seminar.” Ministry of Education Supervisor Yeh Ding-peng, HPA Deputy Director-General Chia Shu-li, and experts promoted exercises in various fields, wearable technology and physical exercises. A total of 300 people participated in the online meeting.

October 3-5:Taiwan hosted the first “Global Health Literacy Summit.” The HPA was the instruction unit. Vice President William Lai Ching-de, MOHW Deputy Minister Shih Chung-liang and WHO, EU, and US Department of Heath representatives and policymakers collectively reached health literacy concensus and led the new international health cooperation. Over 500 people participated in the online meeting.

September 27:On October 2nd, Minister of MOHW Chen Shih-chung participated in the opening ceremony of the 2021 public health joint meeting and academic seminar. The annual meeting was co-hosted by the Taiwan Public Health Association. The theme for discussion was “global public health impact and challenge during the pandemic era”. HPA also conducted two thematic discussion sections. The themes were “Using Digital Technology to Reduce Health Inequality,” and “Nutrition and Health Survey”.

September 3:HPA proposed the APEC Life Science Innovation Forum “Accelerating Action on Cancer Control in APEC.” and hosted the first theme workshop- “Cancer prevention.” 10 APEC member economies of Thailand, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, USA, Philippines, Switzerland, Indonesia, and Taiwan, as well as India and Colombia participated. Approximately 50 domestic and international experts participated in the discussion.

July 20:HPA’s proposal for “Accelerating Action on Cancer Control in APEC” was approved in July and was countersigned by the USA and Thailand. To organize all of the recommendations in a report, HPA hosted 4 related online workshops and invited exports from various APEC economies.

July 1:As for comprehensive pregnancy healthcare, MOHW increased subsized prenatal checkup from 10 times to 14 times. For the 24th to 28th week, we added gestational diabetes mellitus screening and anemia screening. The general ultrasound checkup has been increased from 1 time to 3 times. We also increased the health checkup diagnostic fee and Rubella IgG, Hepatitis B, and VDRL checkup fee.

July 1:In order to support and assist infertile couples with hope of giving birth, and reduce the economic burden of infertility treatment, MOHW expanded in vitro fertilization (test tube baby) assisted reproduction technology subsidization project. The subsidized subjects included infertile couples if either one of couple is a citizen of ROC. The age of the wives must be under age 45. Wives under age 40 are subsidized up to 6 times per childbirth. Wives under age 45 are subsidized up to 3 times per childbirth. Low and middle income families are subsidized up to NT$ 150,000 each time. The general public is subsidized up to NT$ 100,000 for first applications, a maximum of NT$ 60,000 for subsequent applications.
