• June 25-July 12：During a visit by Ruth Etzel, Director of the Office of Children’s Health Protection, US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), to HPA, exchanges were conducted on opportunities for cooperation in the field of child health protection program proposals. This visit also gave HPA personnel an opportunity to get a better understanding of how USEPA educates and trains medical personnel and the public on environmental health-related issues.

• June 6：The Global Network for Tobacco Free Healthcare Services (GNTH) held the “2018 Global GOLD Forum Event” in Bologna, Italy. All forum members were invited to share tobacco-free hospital implementation results and unique aspects. Local hospitals (Taipei Medical University Hospital, Min-Sheng General Hospital, Mennonite Christian Hospital, and National Taiwan University Hospital Yunlin Branch) garnered four of the fifteen Tobacco-free Hospital Gold Awards presented at this event. This forum serves as a platform for Taiwan to present its achievements and unique experiences in the implementation of tobacco-free hospital concepts to international audiences and conduct international exchanges to learn from the precious experiences of other countries.

• April 24：HPA organized a workshop on “College & University Faculty Active Aging Networks. ” The goal lies in the establishment of cooperation platforms and forming of partnerships in collaboration with faculty members of gerontology and geriatrics departments at colleges and universities and professionals in relevant institutions and organizations. This will facilitate the development of think tanks and resources in the field of active aging and age-friendliness issues.

• April 10-12：HPA held a luncheon in the context of the 2018 Geneva Health Forum. More than 80 local and international experts were invited to deliver speeches on the application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the field of Non-communicable Chronic Diseases (NCD) and current developments in Asia, Europe, and America. They also engaged in discussions from an academic and medical practice standpoint. In addition, two bilateral conferences were organized to state Taiwan’s intention and determination to participate in the NCD Alliance and Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and relevant international conferences and discuss directions for future cooperation.

• March 20-21：The “2018 National Health Assembly Conference” was held in Maoli County with about 240 participants from the HPA and representatives from local health departments across Taiwan. During this conference, outstanding achievements of local health bureaus in the field of healthcare services were recognized through awards and the winners of “the 11th Golden Bureau Award Competition” were announced. In addition, a Nudge workshop was organized to facilitate the effective promotion of relevant policies and joint realization of the vision of better health for all.

• March 13：HPA held a press conference in 2018 to announce the latest version of the “Daily Dietary Guidelines”, intake statistics of citizens in the six food groups categories, the latest version of the “National Dietary Indicators,” and various manuals and leaflets with nutrition recommendations for each life stage. Mr. Wang Hsu Guoo-Shyng, President of the Nutrition Society of Taiwan and Ms. Chin Mei-Yun, President of the Taiwan Dietician Association were invited to participate and state their commitment to assisting the public in the adoption of healthy diet patterns with the goal of improving national health.

• March 6-9：The 17th World Conference on Tobacco or Health was held in Cape Town, South Africa under the theme of “Uniting the World for a Tobacco-free Generation. ” HPA presented three papers during this event. The 12-member Taiwanese delegation also visited the South African Human Sciences Research Council and the South African National Department of Health and met with South African Health Department officials.
