December 21:HPA conducted the “Prevention and delayed disability healthcare service project- Senior health evaluation online educational training”. It was hosted by Deputy Director-general Chia Shu-li, MOHW Department of Long Term Healthcare, Social and Family Affairs Administration. HPA and Taiwan Occupational Therapy Association experts and scholars. We used Youtube to explain the project quality indices and system operations. Over 3,900 communities and project staff participated in the online meeting.

December 10:HPA proposed the APEC Life Science Innovation Forum “Accelerating Action on Cancer Control in APEC”, and hosted the third theme workshop- “Increase the accessibility of cancer treatment and arrangement.” 11 APEC member economies of Taiwan, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philipphines, Singapore, USA, China, Hong Kong, and Papua New Guinea, as well as 2 non-APEC member economies of India and Myanmar participated. Over 50 national and international experts participated.

November 18-19:HPA hosted the APEC Conference on Urbanization, Population Aging and Technology Innovation. Vice Minister Shih Chung-liang gave an opening speech online. A total of 14 APEC member economies and 24 APEC representatives, and invited domestic and international experts to conduct presensentations.

November 6:In coordination with 2021 United Nations World Diabetes Day theme “Access to Diabetes Care,” HPA cooperated with the Diabetes Association of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Taiwanese Association of Diabetes Educators, the Formosan Diabetes Care Foundation, and Hsinchu City Government to co-host press conferences, fairs, walks, and blue lighting events. We sent out diabetes prevention and managerial awareness. We reminded people to emphasize the risks of diabetes, physical fitness, and health behaviors, in order to lower the risks of diabetes. After the meeting, we uploaded event photos on to the International Diabetes Federation website, in order to reinforce global participation of our diabetes prevention.

November 1:At the 2021 Global Health and Welfare Forum, we conducted a parallel forum “climate change and children’s health.” It was hosted by President Huey Jen Jenny Su, National Cheng Kung University, Dr. Chung Liang Shih, Vice Minister, Ministry of Health and Welfare. Taiwan, Deputy Minister Hung Teh Tsai, Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan, Taiwan and Jane Nishida, Assistant Administrator Office of International and Tribal Affairs, Environmental Protection Agency, United States conducted a speech. The speakers included Dr. Perry Sheffield. Associate Professor of Environmental Medicine and Public Health and Pediatrics Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, USA. Dr. Rebecca Philipsborn, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Emory University School of Medicine. Deputy Director Shih Chun Candice Lung, Research Center for Environmental Changes Academia Sinica, TW. We hoped to upgrade the emphasis of global climate change to children’s health. We also came up with all kinds of actions and protection measures. Approximately 200 experts and scholars from the USA, Philipphines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Canada, Germany, and Taiwan participated in live and online meetings.

October 31:November 1 MOHW conducted “2021 Taiwan global health and welfare forum.” Vice President Lai Ching-de conducted a speech at the open ceremony. The theme was “sustainable society.” The meeting was conducted online and live. We also provided Mandarin and English subtitles. In addition, we gave out special contribution awards to Professor Borisch and Martin Mckee who supported the forum for many years. In the meeting, we conducted a total of 1 assembly speech, 3 main speeches, and 11 parallel speeches. The content covered public health, healthcare system, health administration, and social administration topics. Over 600 people participated. 43 expert scholars and health department officials from Europe, Americas, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australia. There were a total of over 6,600 views and approximately 18,000 clicks on Webex, Facebook, and Youtube.

October 21-22:HPA and Health Bureau of Taichung City government co-hosted the “2021 national healthcare meeting.” We used the theme of “urgent public health policy.” We invited all local health bureaus and all the departments to partipate in actual and webcam meetings. Minister Chen Shih-chung made a video speech. In the meeting, we conducted 4 special topic speeches, shared health policies, promoted plans, and conducted discussions.

October 21:The 3774th report from MOHW to the Cabinet Meeting “Public health service system upgrade.” Through amendment to public health centers organizational regulations and reference standards of staffing table, we integrated foresight foundation to subsidize the public health centers’ repair/reconstruction/newly built facilities, in order to provide a more convenient long distance medical service, and fulfill the basic core competency of public health staff in the public health centers.
