From a long-term perspective, the age-standardized incidence rate in Taiwan has exhibited a fluctuating tendency in recent years, while the mortality rate has declined steadily. An analysis of the age-standardized incidence rates of the ten leading cancers reveals that liver, stomach, and skin cancer have exhibited a declining tendency for 7 consecutive years (colorectal cancer has also seen a decrease), while the incidence rates of lung, oral, prostrate, and esophageal cancer have seen ups and downs. The incidence rate of breast cancer has remained constant, while that of thyroid and cervical cancer has increased.
