2017 Global Health Forum in Taiwan was scheduled for Sunday and Monday, October 23-24, at the Chang Yung-Fa Foundation International Convention Center. The theme was imagined as “Inspiration, Action and Movement (IAM): Implementation of SDGs”, reflecting on the progress made so far in the sustainable development goals, while drawing on the combined efforts of academics, public sectors and civil experts to brainstorm and discuss directions where the international communities can take to fully realize the goals. The forum featured discussions on some of the pertinent issues and challenges to be addressed through the SDGS: non-communicable diseases, environment health, healthcare system reform and health literacy, health in all policies and innovation for health. Other thematic discussions included infectious disease, traditional (Chinese) medicine, mental health and nursing care, which served to complement the SDG discussions with experiences from specific health sectors.
